Manly<\/a> coach Anthony Seibold<\/a> and his Roosters<\/a> counterpart Trent Robinson<\/a> traded barbs after the Chooks won a 26-16 slog at the SCG on Thursday night<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Seibold accused the Tricolours of deliberately slowing play down by conceding penalties, and fumed that one of his players was sin-binned by referee Ashley Klein instead.<\/p>\n

Roosters firebrand Nathan Brown was sent off for a high shot on Ben Trbojevic, but it was the sin-bin of Sea Eagles forward Toafofoa Sipley in the 58th minute that rankled Seibold.<\/p>\n

The Roosters conceded a whopping 15 penalties for the night, while the Sea Eagles were stung with six, but it was Manly who copped a sin-bin for repeated infringements.<\/p>\n

"They obviously come with a deliberate plan to take any momentum out of the game I thought. I think by the end of the game the Roosters conceded 15 penalties," Seibold told media following the loss.<\/p>\n

"The thing that was quite strange, I know Nathan Brown got sent off but that was for foul play, but our sixth penalty of the night Toff Sipley – a yardage penalty for staying in the tackle too long – gets sin binned. I didn't quite understand that.<\/p>\n

"I understand the frustration with the amount (of penalties) but at that stage the Roosters had given 10 away and we had given five away, so I wasn't quite sure where that came from.<\/p>\n

"It was a really stop-start game. Both sides conceded a lot of penalties, a lot of six-agains. It certainly hurt the rhythm of how we wanted to play our footy, but they came with a good plan so credit to them."<\/p>\n

While many NRL coaches do deliberately attempt to slow play down at different stages, it's a tactic that can be frowned upon, and one which is rarely admitted.<\/p>\n

When the Seibold allegations were put to Robinson in his press conference, the Roosters coach bit back.<\/p>\n

"I don't think there was any, that wasn't the area of penalties. I don't think that was a concern," Robinson said.<\/p>\n

"They weren't trying to get quick play the balls, they were trying to shift the ball from side to side and that wasn't the area of where the penalties were given anyway, so I think that's way off the mark."<\/p>\n

The win was much needed for the Roosters as they look to salvage an underwhelming season and make it to finals.<\/p>\n
