Cordner, 28, last November ruled himself out of game two and three of the Origin series<\/a> after suffering a head knock in the series opener. It was an incident that garnered widespread scrutiny in light of Cordner's history with concussions<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cordner's aim now is to continue playing on after undergoing a number of tests, which included an MRI scan that showed a "pristine" brain with no signs of degeneration or injury according to the Sydney Morning Herald.<\/em><\/a> He also underwent neuropsychological and neurocognitive tests, which showed no decline from the last time he took similar tests 18 months ago.<\/p>\n Despite Robinson admitting he discussed with Cordner the possibility of retirement, the pair ultimately decided playing on was a safe option given the strong test results.<\/p>\n "There was nothing to suggest he shouldn't play football again," Robinson told the Herald<\/em>.<\/p>\n "All the testing came back positive. If it came back negative, it would've been a different story."<\/p>\n It's understood Cordner will now undergo a detailed plan put in place by Robinson, club doctor Tom Longworth and concussion specialist Dr Andrew Gardner to get the Roosters co-captain back out on the field.<\/p>\n A plan divided into three eight-week blocs will see Cordner focus on recovery and re-strengthening for the first part.<\/p>\n For the second stage, Cordner will ramp up his running, speed and agility work, with a jiu-jitsu component also included.<\/p>\n The third stage will see Cordner take on regular training for eight weeks before the club and medical experts make a decision about a possible return. It's understood an independent evaluation by the NRL will also be undertaken.<\/p>\n "But there's no fixed date we are looking at," Robinson said.<\/p>\n "He needs to be progressing through each stage at the right time.
