The New South Wales Rugby League<\/a> (NSWRL) has denied reports Brad Fittler<\/a> has been offered a new coaching contract.<\/p>\n

\ufeffA number of media outlets on Thursday suggested a new one-year deal was essentially finalised, but Nine's Danny Weidler says that isn't the case.<\/p>\n

"Blues say board has had no discussions re Brad Fittler's future," Weidler tweeted.<\/p>\n

"He will present to them (on) August 25. After that it will be some time before a decision is made.<\/p>\n

\"NSW<\/p>\n

"Having said that, a (one) year contract is the quiet tip."<\/p>\n

Weidler says he does not know whether Fittler wishes to continue coaching or not.\ufeff<\/p>\n

By losing the 2023 State of Origin<\/a> series 2-1 to Queensland, Fittler put his future at the mercy of the NSWRL board, failing to trigger an extension.<\/p>\n

Fittler won three of his first four series in charge, but has lost both the last two since the Maroons appointed Billy Slater as coach.<\/p>\n

\ufeffFollowing the series loss last month, Nine's Danika Mason asked Fittler on television<\/a> if he planned to continue.<\/p>\n

"It's just about getting the best person," he replied.<\/p>\n

"Let's worry about that first and then we will sort of talk about that and take it from there."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Then, when asked if he still had "fire in his belly" to coach the Blues, he responded, "we will see".\ufeff<\/p>\n

Slater is also yet to commit his future to the Maroons for next year.\ufeff<\/p>\n
