A\ufeffustralia's Rob Stannard will miss this year's Cycling<\/a> World Championships after receiving a provisional suspension for an alleged anti-doping rule violation.<\/p>\n

Stannard's absence from the event, which kicks off on August 3, was confirmed via a statement from AusCycling late on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAusCycling was informed of the UCI's provisional suspension of cyclist Rob Stannard earlier today," the statement read.<\/p>\n

"Regrettably, the provisional suspension for an Anti-Doping Rule Violation means that Mr Stannard will be unable to compete in the World Championships in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

"We note that Mr Stannard rigorously rejects the stated reasons for the provisional suspension and has signalled his intention to appeal.<\/p>\n

"AusCycling will continue to support Mr Stannard and will provide the UCI with whatever assistance it needs to swiftly resolve the matter.<\/p>\n

"We will be making no further comment at this time."<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old Sydney native took out last year's \ufeffTour de Wallonie in Belgium.<\/p>\n
