Sharks<\/a> NRLW<\/a> prop Harata Butler is facing a one-match ban for an ugly hip drop on Wests Tigers<\/a> winger Jakiya Whitfeld.<\/p>\n

With scores locked at nil-all in their round two clash at Belmore on Sunday afternoon, Whitfeld put in a strong run off her own line.<\/p>\n

Unable to bring her down, Butler then lifted her feet, dragging Whitfield down using her entire body weight in an action that has become despised over the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

Unhappy with the tackle, Whitfeld shoved Butler as she got up to play the ball, before Butler appeared to smack her over the head.<\/p>\n

The smack from Butler was what appeared to draw the original penalty from referee Rochelle Tamarua, before the Bunker intervened.<\/p>\n

Tamarua then sent Butler for a spell in the sin bin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Butler was slapped with a grade two dangerous contact charge, and offered a week \u2013 the Sharks' round three clash against the Titans \u2013 with an early plea, or two if she takes it to the judiciary and loses.<\/p>\n

She avoided a sanction for striking.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The NRLW's suspensions are relative to the length of the season, which explains the short holiday for what could be considered one of the nastiest looking hip drops seen in 2023.<\/p>\n

Butler's binning would prove the difference in the tight affair, with Kezie Apps and then Whitfeld both scoring while she was off the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tigers would eventually hold on 10-0<\/a>. Neither the Sharks men's or women's side scored points in their respective games.<\/p>\n
