What a performance by Sharks lock Cam McInnes, who made a stunning 83 tackles against the Panthers – a new NRL record.<\/p>\n

But while McInnes should rightfully be praised for his efforts, some of his fellow forwards should hang their heads in shame.<\/p>\n

McInnes did the dirty work for plenty of his teammates, with the Sharks looking flat from start to finish in their 28-0 loss.<\/p>\n

McInnes looked like a beaten prizefighter after the game, his head bloodied and covered in bandages.<\/p>\n

But if it wasn't for his amazing effort, the Panthers' score would have been a lot closer to the half century than just 28.<\/p>\n

YOUNG DOG DESTINED FOR BIG THINGS\ufeff<\/h3>\n

The Bulldogs have found themselves a handy player for the future in former Knights junior Harrison Edwards.<\/p>\n

In his second year in the NRL, 23-year-old Harrison has played only eight games this season but will play plenty more in 2024.<\/p>\n

Big and strong, the rising prop came off the bench against the Dolphins on Sunday and lifted the team with his intensity and energy.<\/p>\n

Harrison ran for over 120 metres in a tidy 58-minute stint and is the type of no-frills player every club needs in its roster.<\/p>\n

PRESSURE RELEASES FROM KNIGHTS COACH\ufeff<\/h3>\n

A month is a long time in rugby league – just ask Knights coach Adam O'Brien.<\/p>\n

Four weeks ago, the Knights' season looked dead and buried and officials were quietly sniffing around for a new coach for 2024.<\/p>\n

But they have proved one of the NRL's form teams in the crucial month of July, winning four straight games and outscoring their rivals 154 to 42 to boost their for and against.<\/p>\n

O'Brien is now riding high and Saturday afternoon's 28-6 win over the Raiders in Canberra was all class and desire.<\/p>\n

The Knights simply wanted it more from the opening whistle to the last and never allowed the Raiders into the contest.<\/p>\n

Their spine, led by the remarkable Kalyn Ponga, is firing on all cylinders and the winning run looks set to get them into the finals – something that was unthinkable a few short weeks ago.<\/p>\n

ONE-TWO PUNCH KEY TO STORM TITLE\ufeff<\/h3>\n

Do the Storm have the best one-two punch in the game in Jahrome Hughes and Harry Grant?<\/p>\n

It's no secret you need a great halfback and a great hooker to win a comp in league's new fast-paced era and the Melbourne duo tick all the boxes.<\/p>\n

The pair were sublime in Friday night's 46-16 thumping of last year's grand finalists Parramatta.<\/p>\n

Hughes was simply superb – he boasted five assists, three line breaks and a try to smoke the Eels.<\/p>\n

And Grant wasn't far behind, scoring two first-half tries and five tackle breaks and two line breaks.<\/p>\n

Throw in the likes of Cameron Munster, who scored a stunning solo try, and big Nelson Asofa-Solomona, who missed the massacre through injury, and it's easy to see why the Storm are the team all the other big guns fear.<\/p>\n

RABBITOHS' REAL KEY MAN\ufeff<\/h3>\n

Latrell Mitchell's comeback gave Souths' title hopes a big boost in Tamworth, but make no mistake, Cam Murray is the man who can get the Bunnies through to the big end of season games.<\/p>\n

While Latrell and Cody Walker have the X-factor to lay on tries, Murray is the Energiser Bunny.<\/p>\n

He was at it again against the Tigers, scoring a try, running for 147 metres and making 34 tackles.<\/p>\n

Murray is also proving a fine leader with a cool head who can calm down some of the Rabbitohs players who can get baited in big games and his influence on the team cannot be understated.<\/p>\n

'REMARKABLE' ROOSTERS FEAT ACHIEVED\ufeff<\/h3>\n

Thursday night's Broncos-Roosters game at the Gabba could be described as a game of two tries.<\/p>\n

Biggest cheer of the night – and best celebration – came when popular Broncos forward Pat Carrigan crossed for his maiden NRL try after 78 games, resulting in him being mobbed by the entire Brisbane team.<\/p>\n

It was the high point of the Broncos' crushing 32-10 win, but a Roosters four-pointer also had massive significance.<\/p>\n

When Daniel Tupou scored his try from a crossfield kick late in the match, it took him to 140 career tries for the Roosters, eclipsing the great Anthony Minichiello as the club's greatest tryscorer.<\/p>\n

When you consider the Roosters are the only club to play every season since rugby league began in this country in 1908, it was a remarkable achievement from the tall flanker.<\/p>\n
