A\ufeff visibly-frustrated Wayne Bennett<\/a> has suggested the NRL will have to answer for two questionable calls that went against the Dolphins<\/a> in a thriller against the Bulldogs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bennett's side put on a spirited second-half comeback attempt, but fell short in heartbreaking fashion after Jamayne Isaako missed a try conversion kick with 30 seconds remaining that would've put the Dolphins ahead.<\/p>\n

Isaako's kick drifted beyond the left goal post after initially looking like it would hit the target as the Bulldogs held on for a 23-22 win<\/a> in Bundaberg.<\/p>\n

Bennett and the Dolphins were left to rue two crucial calls that went Canterbury's way in a matter of minutes inside the final 15 minutes of the contest.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The first call took place 13 minutes from full time when Isaako thought he'd extended a one-point Dolphins lead with a try in the right corner.<\/p>\n

As Isaako celebrated, referee Peter Gough blew his whistle, calling Kodi Nikorima's pass to Isaako leading up to the try as a forward pass.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins' frustrations grew less than two minutes later when a similar pass from Toby Sexton found Blake Wilson in the left corner to give the Bulldogs the lead back, despite Dolphins protests.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffGee they're lucky to get away with that one. At first look, I thought it was forward there," Tigers legend Steve Roach said on Fox League's coverage upon seeing replays of Wilson's try.<\/p>\n

Bennett concurred after the match\ufeff.<\/p>\n

\"Referees<\/p>\n

"I don't know whether it went wrong or we just had a bit of bad luck, or a bit of both," he said when asked by reporters what "went wrong" for his side.<\/p>\n

"The bounce of the ball, decisions here, an issue there, whatever, all those little things that go to make up a game.<\/p>\n

When pressed about the calls on Isaako's try and Wilson's, Bennett's words said it all.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"The referees can handle that one (Isaako's), it's their decision," he said.<\/p>\n

"They can answer that one (Wilson's) too. We have to live with them (the decisions) so nothing's going to change now."<\/p>\n

The loss to the NRL cellar-dwellers is a big blow to the Dolphins' finals chances, with the newcomers currently in 12th spot, four points adrift of the eight-placed Cowboys.<\/p>\n
