Cowboys<\/a> star Valentine Holmes<\/a> has been heavily criticised for a "lazy" tackle after he was sent to the sin bin in his side's shock loss to the Titans<\/a><\/p>\n

Just last week, Holmes was fined $1,800 for a careless high tackle on Mitchell Moses and it's likely he'll face a similar, if not worse, punishment for his shot on Jayden Campbell.<\/p>\n

Sin binned in the 20th minute, the Titans scored through Phillip Sami with the one-man advantage and eventually went on to win the game 22-13<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

NRL legend Brad Fittler was highly critical of Holmes at half-time and the Cowboys performance as a whole.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI've got to say I think they've been a little bit lazy, they've completed high (but) their discipline was poor," he said on Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

"Val Holmes, he did it last week, I thought that he had a problem and was a bit lazy with his technique, he got caught out today and cost his team a try."<\/p>\n

With Andrew Johns describing the sin bin high shot as a "bad one", Fittler believes he'll be out for a while. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"For sure … he'll serve time for this one too. I think last week was a warning," he said.<\/p>\n

Fittler then doubled down on the Cowboys' lack of potency. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"They've completed so high, I reckon they've had a lot of calls go against them especially down on their line, I thought there was some ridiculous calls really but they've looked lazy, not supporting each other, I don't see that ad lib play that's threatening," he said.<\/p>\n

"Without Scott Drinkwater I feel like there's not much attack in them."<\/p>\n

The Titans were off to the perfect start when AJ Brimson capitalised on a \ufeffAlofiana Khan-Pereira line break and chip kick in the seventh minute.<\/p>\n

Straight away North Queensland hit back through Semi Valemei and Coen Hess before Holmes was given his marching orders.<\/p>\n

Despite Sami's try, the Titans still trailed at half-time 13-10 after a Chad Townsend field goal right on the break.<\/p>\n

Both sides came out of the sheds completely different teams, with Jayden Campbell scoring immediately to give Gold Coast the lead.<\/p>\n

Khan-Pereira then added another four-pointer in the 45th minute to make it 22-13, with the score remaining the same at full-time.<\/p>\n

Along with Holmes' incident, the Cowboys will have a number of concerns after Coen Hess and Luciano Leilua were also put on report while Reece Robson left the field for a HIA late in the game.<\/p>\n

\ufeffNext week the Titans play the Warriors on Friday while North Queensland has another derby against the Broncos as they attempt to maintain their top eight spot.<\/p>\n
