T\ufeffhere are fresh concerns over Lance Franklin<\/a>'s playing future after the veteran star suffered a calf injury in the Swans' two-point win over the Bombers<\/a> on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old was subbed out of the game in the second half and looked distraught on the bench for much of the second half.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen just how long Franklin is sidelined for and whether hobbling off Marvel Stadium ends up being the last act in an illustrious career that has spanned 19 seasons.<\/p>\n

Franklin had initially planned to retire at the end of the 2023 season, but is reported to be considering playing another season<\/a> after enjoying a strong month of football prior to his latest injury.<\/p>\n

\"MELBOURNE,<\/p>\n

However, according to Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes, the injury should give Franklin an answer on what to do.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThat should make the decision easy, shouldn't it?" he told Nine's AFL Sunday Footy Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"That was far-fetched, I would've thought, that he was going to go around again. And now to have a soft tissue injury.<\/p>\n

"(Joel) Amartey was terrific, so the future of the forward line is in good hands."<\/p>\n

According to veteran AFL reporter Damian Barrett, Franklin and the Swans are at odds on whether the champion forward plays another year at the club.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI don't feel the Swans are keen on him going around again," he told the Sunday Footy Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I'll let them address that publicly, (but) he has had a second thought about it, there's no doubt about that.<\/p>\n

"His form leading into that game from the previous three matches was better than it had been for a lot of the season."<\/p>\n

Following the Swans win, coach John Longmire opened up on Franklin's mindset after suffering the injury.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"He's obviously got a tight calf \u2013 it was tight enough to sub him out, so we'll see what it looks like tomorrow," Longmire said.<\/p>\n

"He's alright, I just had a chat with him then, he's disappointed he's got a sore calf.<\/p>\n

"He's been around for a long time and he knows there's no point talking too much about it now.<\/p>\n

"We'll wait until we've got the facts in front of us."<\/p>\n

Sydney has just four matches remaining in the home and away season for Franklin to try and make a return.<\/p>\n

Last year's grand finalists remain an outside chance to make the finals this year, currently sitting in 10th position, two games out of eighth spot.<\/p>\n
