The whole economy goes down, so the Prime Minister's there with his fingers crossed hoping the All Blacks win."<\/p>\n Predictably, Foster didn't take the bait.<\/p>\n "You might want to mention that to (PM Chris) Hipkins and (opposition leader Christopher) Luxon and they can deal with that comment," Foster said.<\/p>\n NEW PODCAST! He prepares his team his way, and we prepare our team our way."<\/p>\n Despite a demoralising start to the season for the Wallabies, Foster said he's conscious a comeback is likely to come.<\/p>\n "We don't want to hide from the (World Cup) challenge and say we're holding heaps of stuff back for later in the year. You can seduce yourself into doing that," he explained.<\/p>\n "It's just a big Test match and we love these. It's the MCG, the Wallabies, and the Rugby Championship. It's a chance to lock that away, and the Bledisloe is in addition. We're going in with that expectation. That's the best way to prepare for a Test match. We also know the challenge ahead. The Wallabies have clearly been wounded the last two Tests, but that hasn't meant a lot in the past, and I'm sure it won't mean much on Saturday."<\/p>\n Jones does have one thing over Foster, however.<\/p>\n In the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the then-England coach spectacularly upset the All Blacks in the semi-final, winning 19-7 in Japan.\u00a0<\/p>\n It's been two decades since Australia held the Bledisloe Cup when Jones was last at the helm of the Wallabies in 2003.<\/p>\n On the form guide alone, it's hard to see that record changing.<\/p>\n The record book doesn't look favourably upon Australia either.<\/p>\n New Zealand has won the past five contests. New Zealand won eight of the last 10, and one of those was a draw.<\/p>\n Crucially, if Australia wants to win the Bledisloe Cup they'll have to go back-to-back.<\/p>\n The last time that happened was 2001 when they won both Tri Nations contests.<\/p>\n Jones is optimistic the Wallabies' record at the MCG will be something of an omen.<\/p>\n One thing hanging over the heads of the All Blacks is the miraculous, if lucky, win over the Wallabies in Melbourne only a year ago.<\/p>\n In any case, he expects the forthcoming contest to be a barnburner.<\/p>\n "The one reminder that does come out of it is there are not too many years we don't have drama and a last-minute result against the Wallabies," Foster said.<\/p>\n https:\/\/twitter.com\/StanSportRugby\/status\/1684739273067732992?s=20<\/a><\/p>\n "I remember Malakai (Fekitoa) in Brisbane (in 2014) scoring near the end, and Colin Slade kicking the conversion.<\/p>\n "It was one of so many Test matches that have gone down to the wire.
