The Netball World Cup<\/a> has been rocked by player security fears after West Coast Fever<\/a> and Jamaica star Jhaniele Fowler was robbed just 24 hours before the competition begins.<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old shooter claimed she had been robbed and had people attempting to break into her room in South Africa, where the tournament begins on Friday.<\/p>\n

Fowler posted to her Instagram on Wednesday night to share the allegations.<\/p>\n

"This is so unfortunate, this place isn't safe," Fowler wrote.<\/p>\n

"First they stole money from my purse, now people are trying to come in on us in our rooms. Really!"<\/p>\n

The West Coast Fever star was an integral part of Jamaica's 2022 Commonwealth Games team, helping the side reach the gold medal match against Australia.<\/p>\n

Fowler, who is captain of Jamaica, ranked first on goal-scoring leaderboard during the Games – with a shooting accuracy of 96 per cent at the competition's conclusion – and has continued to dominate her competition in the Australian Super Netball league.<\/p>\n

Speaking earlier this week on Jamaica's World Cup campaign, Fowler – who is entering her fourth World Cup – revealed the team aims to "bring gold back to Jamaica".<\/p>\n

"Our chances are very good for winning the World Cup. I am definitely going for gold, my team wants gold and we want to bring gold back to Jamaica," said Fowler.<\/p>\n

"Our aim is to be here until the end and be on that podium, but we have to take it one game at a time.<\/p>\n

"My mindset and mentality is to just go out there and be strong, be the dominant force that I am.<\/p>\n

"I think we need to continue to stay focused, to do what we did at the Commonwealth Games\u2026 but we're going to do it a little better in the World Cup by making sure that we're sticking together, that we are unified, and that we're working as a team."<\/p>\n

The Sunshine Girls will likely face the Australian Diamonds during the semi-finals next week – so long as both nations are to place first in their group stages, as expected.<\/p>\n
