Triple Olympic champion Kaylee McKeown<\/a> says she "got dealt that bad hand" and has admitted to crying after being disqualified at the World Aquatics Championships<\/a> on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

McKeown was stripped of a chance to shoot for a medal in the women's 200-metre individual medley when she was disqualified for a stroke violation in her semi-final swim at the world titles meet in Fukuoka, Japan.<\/p>\n

Judges deemed she committed a stroke violation in her transition from backstroke to breaststroke \u2014 a ruling slammed by the 22-year-old on Monday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I had a bit of a cry … A bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but it's sport and it's what happens in sport. Unfortunately some people just get the bad hand and I got dealt that bad hand," McKeown said.<\/p>\n

"It's just a matter of trying to flip it into a positive.<\/p>\n

"We have footage and other angles that say otherwise to what the officials saw."<\/p>\n

McKeown thought she had qualified for Monday night's final\ufeff when she completed her semi-final swim.<\/p>\n

Shortly after emerging from the pool, she and two other swimmers, Italy's Sara Franceschi and Great Britain's Katie Shanahan, were shocked to hear they had been disqualified.<\/p>\n

Led by Dolphins head coach Rohan Taylor, Swimming Australia launched a protest of McKeown's disqualification\ufeff, but failed to overturn the decision.<\/p>\n

"I disagree, 100 per cent," Taylor said.<\/p>\n

McKeown still has 100-metre and 200-metre backstroke races to come and is the world record holder in both events.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster from last night to this morning," said the Queenslander.<\/p>\n

"It probably hit me more this morning but it's good to come out and blow the cobwebs off."<\/p>\n
