Collingwood Magpies<\/a> star Jamie Elliott<\/a> has proven he's the man when they need him most, after kicking a stunning goal to defeat Port Adelaide<\/a> at the death.<\/p>\n

With over three minutes left in the game and Port leading by five points, Elliott took a mark on the boundary and proceeded to kick the goal from a tight angle, bringing Adelaide Oval's spectators to their feet.<\/p>\n

The Magpies managed to hold on for a 13.7 (85) to 12.11 (83) result, with the game delivering on its billing as the most anticipated of the year.<\/p>\n

In a see-sawing affair, Port was behind 4.0 (24) to 4.3 (27)\ufeff at the end of the first quarter before taking a seven-point advantage in the first half.<\/p>\n

A 9.9 (63) to 7.4 (46) scoreline in favour of the home side at the end of the third quarter suggested it might be game over, however Collingwood went into action and it was Elliott who emerged the hero, and ultimately set social media alight.<\/p>\n

"Jamie Elliott's body looked cooked a few years ago and his career may have been teetering on the edge," 9news reporter Mark Gottlieb wrote.<\/p>\n

"He's not just come back a better player, he's become one of the clutchest players the game has seen."<\/p>\n

Former Swans and Crows forward, now media personality, Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald, described Elliott as a "boundary cyborg".<\/p>\n

Saturday's effort wasn't the first time Elliott had pulled off such a feat, kicking a goal from a similar spot to defeat Essendon after the siren last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With the win, Collingwood now goes eight points clear of Port Adelaide in first place on the ladder. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The Magpies will play Carlton on Friday next week while Port have the showdown against Adelaide on Saturday. \ufeff<\/p>\n
