UPDATED:\ufeff<\/strong> Collingwood and Port Adelaide have contacted the AFL Integrity Unit over multiple racist messages sent to Port Adelaide's Willie Rioli on social media.<\/p>\n

Rioli was embroiled\ufeff in a final quarter altercation with Magpies defender Nathan Murphy in the Pies' two point victory, which led to a venomous reaction from Collingwood fans at the time that spilled onto the internet.<\/p>\n

Collingwood<\/a> released a statement in the early hours of Sunday morning condemning the "abhorrent and disgusting" racial abuse directed at the Port Adelaide star.<\/p>\n

The AFL announced earlier this year that fans responsible for racial vilification will receive a lifetime ban.<\/p>\n

"Willie Rioli is a valued player to our game. Willie is a talented athlete and impressive young man and we stand with him and his family. Racist comments cause significant hurt and harm and no one should be subject to such abuse." AFL CEO-Elect Andrew Dillon said.<\/p>\n

"Racism is inexcusable and is never ok. We strongly support all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players and condemn the racial vilification of anyone in the community."<\/p>\n

Replays showed Rioli grappled with Murphy and then connected with an open hand to the face, which knocked the Collingwood player to the ground.<\/p>\n

The reaction to the incident online led to the Magpies\ufeff to release a statement.<\/p>\n

"The Collingwood Football Club strongly condemns the abhorrent and disgusting racist remarks directed towards Willie Rioli," club chief executive Craig Kelly said.<\/p>\n

"There is no room for racism in our game and we will not tolerate it \u2013 not on the field, off the field or online.<\/p>\n

"All of us have a responsibility to call out this behaviour and our club is committed to playing a role in educating as many members of the wider community as possible.<\/p>\n

"We stand alongside all First Nations players, staff and supporters."<\/p>\n

Speaking to media after the match, Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley\ufeff said the clash between Rioli and Murphy was not dirty and his star doesn't have to worry about missing time.<\/p>\n

"There's nothing in it, surely," Hinkley said.<\/p>\n

"I looked at it \u2026 it's an open hand slipping up.<\/p>\n

"I always say, 'Let them take care of it' and they'll have a look at it if it needs to be looked at.<\/p>\n

"But I have actually seen that one so I can say that I've seen a lot worse things happen."<\/p>\n

Hinkley said Riloi's play was telling on the field after he missed last week's loss to Carlton to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his father's passing.<\/p>\n

"He seemed pretty valuable out there, but I thought a lot of players had moments," Hinkley said.<\/p>\n

"He's been remarkable.<\/p>\n

"He did what he needed to do for his late father and for his family and he came back and did what he needed to do for his football club family.<\/p>\n

"He played really well."<\/p>\n
