England wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow<\/a> has finally given a public comment on the controversial Lord's stumping<\/a>\ufeff \u2014 and, unsurprisingly, swiped the Australians.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sky Sports at stumps on day three of the fourth Ashes<\/a> Test, Bairstow expressed the view that Alex Carey<\/a> and his teammates had set a poor example for kids.<\/p>\n

The Yorkshireman's comments followed an unbeaten knock of 99 runs from just 81 balls<\/a>, which lifted the English to 592 all out and \ufeffa lead of 275 in the second innings of the match.<\/p>\n

Bairstow refused to comment on the Lord's stumping when asked in a press conference at stumps, but had spicy feedback for the Australians in his chat with Sky Sports.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It wasn't the way that I wanted to be out down at Lord's," Bairstow said.<\/p>\n

"It's part and parcel with the game. We've seen it.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

"In other occasions, I've even heard about it now in club cricket. That's not necessarily what you want to be hearing as the example. When you look at young kids coming up, you want to be playing the game how I've always played it. You play it tough, you play it fair, and on a different day, it doesn't happen."<\/p>\n

Bairstow has gone some way to repaying the faith of England selectors in \ufeffelevating the hosts to an unbeatable position at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

In addition to his swashbuckling 99 not out, the 33-year-old has snapped up all five \ufeffchances presented to him behind the stumps, including a phenomenal catch to send Mitchell Marsh on his way in Australia's first dig.<\/p>\n

Bairstow dived\ufeff low and at full stretch to his right to pluck a one-handed catch, which delighted him and his teammates to no end.<\/p>\n

He had missed eight of 20 chances over the first three Tests, leading to many people ripping his glovework and calling for Ben Foakes \u2014 a superior wicketkeeper but inferior batsman \u2014 to take his place.<\/p>\n

"There's obviously been some chitter-chatter and opinions that have been rather interesting at times," Bairstow said in his press conference at stumps on day three of the Old Trafford Test.<\/p>\n

"Especially when there's not been many conversations around how my ankle is.<\/p>\n

"Whether they're fair or not, it's up to you guys to decide, because you guys are writing the different bits.<\/p>\n

"To have the injury that I had and (to be) back playing international sport within nine months is something I'm incredibly proud of."<\/p>\n

In September 2022, Bairstow suffered an horrific leg injury on a golf course, which required surgery to repair a broken leg and dislocated ankle.\ufeff<\/p>\n
