Australia<\/a>'s FIFA Women's World Cup<\/a> campaign has got off to a horrible start with skipper \ufeffSam Kerr<\/a> ruled out of the first two matches of the tournament.<\/p>\n

According to the Matildas, Kerr picked up a calf injury during a training session on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Matildas star released a statement on her Instagram account, confirming the news.<\/p>\n

"I wanted to share this with everyone so there is no distraction from us doing what we came here to achieve," she wrote.<\/p>\n

Australia plays Ireland for its first match on Thursday night before facing Nigeria on July 27.<\/p>\n

The World Cup hosts will hope to have Kerr back in its lineup for the final game in the group stage against Canada on Monday, July 31. <\/p>\n
