Sydney Thunder<\/a> captain Callum Ferguson was "angry and ticked off" after being axed by the BBL franchise despite a bumper season.<\/p>\n

Ferguson, 36, revealed on Saturday that he had not been offered a new contract by the Thunder, having chased a commitment throughout the season.<\/p>\n

The veteran batsman made 405 runs from 15 innings in BBL 10, averaging 31.15 with a best of 61 not out. He was 10th on the tournament run-scorers list and second-best for the Thunder, trailing only gun import Alex Hales, who topped the BBL with 543 runs.<\/p>\n

Yet Ferguson's effort were to no avail.<\/p>\n

"I was pretty angry and ticked off, as you can imagine, when I first got the news," Ferguson told ABC Grandstand.<\/p>\n

"I think the initial reaction was just shock. We'd gone to the Thunder before the start of the season and we were looking to re-sign. They wanted to hold on it.<\/p>\n

"I started the season really well and we went back to them again and they wanted to hold again.<\/p>\n

"Missed out a few times in the middle of the season and then finished really well, so we went back to them again and non-committal would be probably a bit of an understatement.<\/p>\n

"My manager literally couldn't get a return phone call from the Thunder for a week and a half I reckon. No response to text messages and emails, which was frustrating.<\/p>\n

"We finally heard from them yesterday. It is disappointment and shock, I think, initially, and then it probably got to anger at different stages throughout the day.<\/p>\n

"In the end, I think I got to the point where I was like, 'Well, you know what, one door closes, hopefully another one will open'."<\/p>\n

Ferguson will seek a spot with another BBL franchise and has also indicated his desire to play T20 cricket abroad. He retired from first-class cricket last year<\/a> after a distinguished career for South Australia that reaped a lone Test appearance.<\/p>\n
