Wests Tigers<\/a> have added exciting youngster Daine Laurie to their roster a year early, as Paul Momirovski moved to the Penrith Panthers<\/a> in an effective swap deal.<\/p>\n

Laurie had signed with Wests Tigers for 2022 and 2023 but will now be available for this season. He is headed straight to a Tamworth training camp.<\/p>\n

Momirovski joined Penrith on a two-year deal to seal Laurie's release. He spent last season on loan at Melbourne and previously played for the Roosters.<\/p>\n

"We were extremely pleased to secure Daine from the start of the 2022 season and to have him join us earlier than expected is a great boost," Wests Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said in a statement. \u00a0<\/p>\n

"Daine is clearly an exceptional talent and we're very excited to see him take the next steps in his rugby league career in a Wests Tigers jersey."<\/p>\n

Laurie, 21, has played just three NRL games but is a highly-rated fullback\/five-eighth prospect.<\/p>\n

Momirovski, 24, is a solid outside back with 19 NRL appearances, who offers Penrith depth at centre\/wing. He too was released from his contract a year early and joins a team trying to go on step better than last year's grand final appearance.<\/p>\n

"It's always sad to see a player we've developed leave the club, however Paul is a talented young footballer and we're thrilled this arrangement has allowed us to secure his services for the next two seasons," Panthers general manager of rugby league Matt Cameron said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"Our club has been very strong regarding the circumstances under which we would entertain releasing a player ahead of time. This is clearly one such instance."<\/p>\n

Momirovski said: "I'm excited to be joining Panthers and can't wait to start training with the guys.<\/p>\n

"What the team achieved last season shows how much talent there is at the club. It's great to know I'll be part of it for the next two years.<\/p>\n

"For now I'm focused on working hard at training to continually improve and set myself up to play some consistent footy for the club."<\/p>\n
