Stadium Australia will also host the final on August 20.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Ever since they moved stadiums we knew that it was going to be a massive crowd,&quot; Sheva said. &quot;Having the opening game of the tournament against the hosts is an incredible opportunity.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The Matildas beat France 1-0 in a friendly played in front of a record 50,629 fans in Melbourne last week.<\/p>\n<p>The previous record crowd for a Matildas match in Australia was 36,109, set in November 2021 in a loss to the United States at Stadium Australia.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"d7152da7-eb1c-4ad3-a5aa-1ac1d4eca50d\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/d7152da7-eb1c-4ad3-a5aa-1ac1d4eca50d-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA - JULY 17: Katrina Gorry and team run during an Australia Matildas training session ahead of the FIFA Women&#x27;s World Cup Australia &amp; New Zealand 2023 Group B match between Australia and Ireland at Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre on July 17, 2023 in Brisbane, Australia. (Photo by Chris Hyde\/Getty Images)\" data-width=\"5638\" data-height=\"3171\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ireland manager Vera Pauw recognizes the challenge for her squad, but she is emphasizing the importance of her team sticking to its game plan.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Of course it&#x27;s not an ordinary game, but we have to bring it back to the tasks of the game,&quot; Pauw said. &quot;At the end of the day, it&#x27;s the same pitch dimensions as we have back home.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Pauw&#x27;s squad upset Australia 3-2 in a friendly in Dublin in 2021 in the only previous meeting between the teams at the senior level. Louise Quinn, a starting defender on Ireland&#x27;s World Cup roster, scored the winning goal on a second-half header.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I think we&#x27;ve shown that we are capable of competing with the top teams in the world, so this should be no exception,&quot; Sheva said.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6331318422112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/tn-matildas.png\" alt=\"Matildas call out FIFA gender prize money gap\" data-vms-id=\"ref:clk668t33000y0jk1l3zc3rxf\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In April, Ireland played two friendlies against the US team, losing 2-0 in Austin and 1-0 in St. Louis, to the back-to-back defending Women&#x27;s World Cup champions.
