Despite bearing the brunt of a wave of criticism since his controversial stumping of Johnny Bairstow<\/a> sent shockwaves around the cricket world, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey<\/a> has vowed he would do it again.<\/p>\n

Following the dismissal, at a pivotal moment in the second Ashes<\/a> Test at Lord's, Carey was lambasted by the fans at the ground, before the English press went after him the next day.<\/p>\n

Abuse thrown by MCC members in the Long Room<\/a> towards Australia's players as they came off the field shortly after Carey dismissed Bairstow has led to three individuals being hit with suspensions, with each facing possible expulsion.<\/p>\n

The Australian players are currently in the middle of the longest break between Tests this Ashes series \u2013 nine days between Headingley and Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, Carey said he had previously been dismissed in the same way in a premier grade club match for Glenelg.<\/p>\n

"I've definitely been out to that a few times, and I've tried to do it (to batters) in the past as well," Carey said in Manchester.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"My first A-grade game in South Australia, I was out that way. And when I walked off, I was pretty disappointed. (My) captain came up to me, and he said, 'You'll remember to keep your foot behind the line next time'."<\/p>\n

Carey said he and the rest of the Aussies had switched on to Bairstow's habit of stepping out of his crease after ducking under short balls.<\/p>\n

"We were switched on to the fact that it was a bouncer plan, and it felt like Jonny was pretty switched on to getting out the way; he wasn't playing any shots," he said.<\/p>\n

"When he ducked, obviously his first movement was pretty much out of his crease, so I instinctively grabbed the ball, threw the stumps down and the rest is history.<\/p>\n

"As soon as I got it, I threw it straight away. And then, I guess once the bail has come off, it's up to the third umpire to deem it out or not out, or the on-field umpires as well, and it was given out and then, yeah, I guess to see how much it has played out since then; it's been a little bit surprising.<\/p>\n

"If you're on the Australian side, there's been amazing support. And if you're on the England side, it's probably the opposite."<\/p>\n

England must win both of the final two Tests at Old Trafford and The Oval to win the Ashes. The Old Trafford Test begins on Wednesday evening (AEST).<\/p>\n
