B\ufeffrisbane<\/a>'s search for its first premiership since 2006 has taken a significant blow with Payne Haas<\/a> signalling his intent to test the open market.<\/p>\n

Haas – who is contracted until the end of 2024 – will be free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1.<\/p>\n

The Broncos have tabled an extension offer to Haas that would make him the highest-paid forward in the club's history – according to The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> – but the prop has decided he'll assess what's around.<\/p>\n

Various reports over the past year have linked Haas to the Bulldogs, along with Australian rugby and European clubs.<\/p>\n

Bulldogs general manager Phil \ufeffGould was highly complimentary of Haas back in May.<\/p>\n

"He might be the greatest of all time, he's 23 still … I've never seen anything like it," he said on 100% Footy<\/em>.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Haas is managed by Ahmad Merhi under the Sportsplayer Management stable, and requested a release from his Broncos contract last year, which was rejected by the club.<\/p>\n

The Broncos star is currently sidelined with an ankle injury which ruled him out of Origin III.<\/p>\n

Haas also won't feature against the Bulldogs this weekend, and isn't the only player out due to injury with Corey Oates a late withdrawal.<\/p>\n

Oates was set to play his 200th match at Belmore on Saturday<\/a>, however coach Kevin Walters revealed the milestone has been put on hold, for now. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"We lost a winger at training yesterday," Walters told SENQ on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"He's injured his knee in a training incident so he won't be available this weekend.<\/p>\n

"He's off to see the surgeon and the specialist today to see if (he will miss) any time away from the game.<\/p>\n

"He certainly won't be playing against the Bulldogs but we're very fortunate that we have got great depth in a lot of positions.<\/p>\n
