A\ufeffustralian quick Michael Neser<\/a> has made a major statement ahead of the fourth Ashes<\/a> Test after the Queenslander was released from the Aussie squad to play county cricket<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old hit a career-best 176 not out for Glamorgan against Leicestershire in the division two competition, after his side was 7\/93.<\/p>\n

Neser spoke of how proud he was of the achievement, after hitting 123 for Glamorgan in his last game for the club to make it back-to-back hundreds. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt means a lot, I know every point at this point of the season means a heap so to put that together is quite special," he told BBC Sport.<\/p>\n

Fellow Aussie Mitchell Swepson combined with him for a 123-run ninth wicket partnership, with the leg-spinner hitting a career best 69. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Neser explained the intention with his lower order batsman was to counter attack, despite the scorecard.<\/p>\n

"We just tried to say let's be positive, tried putting the pressure back on them, we had a few fortunate moments there and thankfully it paid off and we managed to put on quite a total," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffUs lower order batters, we pride ourselves on our wickets, everyone in that lineup works extremely hard on their batting so you see lower batters these days putting pride on their wickets and it showed today.<\/p>\n

Neser could come into calculations for Australia in the fourth Test\ufeff, as Scott Boland, Josh Hazlewood and the centurion fight for a spot.<\/p>\n

Mitchell Marsh's century in the third Test has further complicated matters with Cameron Green set to return at Old Trafford, while David Warner is under pressure<\/a> to retain his spot at the top of the order.<\/p>\n

Neser will have the chance to press his bowling claims in Leicestershire's first innings, as they resume at 0\/28.<\/p>\n

As the match enters day four, a rain affected fixture puts the draw as the most likely result, however the centurion is staying positive. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Never say never but it's going to be a tough ask from this position … you never know, cricket's a funny game, we might strangle a win," he said.<\/p>\n
