Novak Djokovic<\/a> wants Wimbledon<\/a> organisers to reconsider its scheduling after his match \u2013 and several more \u2013 were suspended due to strict scheduling.<\/p>\n

Inclement conditions and a self-imposed curfew have made rostering at SW19 a nightmare for organisers, with a handful of high-profile men's matches suspended.<\/p>\n

The strict 11pm knock-off has resulted in some contests lapsing overnight.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Djokovic was affected in his fourth round match against Hubert Hurkacz when that match was stopped after just two sets.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier, he raced to beat Stan Wawrinka in straight sets to stop that match from being delayed.<\/p>\n

"The matches could be pushed at least to start at 12pm," said Djokovic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I think it would make a difference. Obviously curfew is probably something that is much more difficult to change, I understand, because of the community and the residential area we are in.\u00a0\ufeff<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

"Once the time is over 8pm, you know that there's a high probability you won't finish your match.<\/p>\n

"I warmed up around 1pm, something like this. Should you go back to the accommodation, the house nearby, or should you stay?\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Yesterday I decided to stay. I stayed basically for seven hours waiting for my match to start. That's a lot."<\/p>\n

It's a double-edged sword for Wimbledon organisers, with the best matches often played in the afternoon or evening to large courtside and television audiences.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wimbledon organisers said they would review timeslots in their annual audit, but noted traditions are important.<\/p>\n

When Djokovic resumed his match against Hurkacz with a two sets lead, he stumbled through the first set.<\/p>\n

The Serbian was pushed to his limits on centre court at SW19, winning 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 6-4.<\/p>\n

Having threatened to win the first two sets, Hurkacz took the third \u2013 marking the first time Djokovic had dropped a set all tournament.<\/p>\n

However, the 26-year-old couldn't continue that momentum in the fourth when he eventually lost.<\/p>\n

Djokovic will make his 14th quarter-finals appearance at Wimbledon as he seeks to win his eighth Grand Slam in London.<\/p>\n

Speaking post-match, the 23-time Grand Slam winner said the contest could have easily swung in Hurkacz's favour.<\/p>\n

Djokovic noted the Polish star's massive serve, in which he scored 33 aces \u2013 but that ultimately wasn't enough to overcome the player many consider the GOAT.<\/p>\n

"Well, a big credit to Hubert for playing an amazing match. Tough luck for him today, but he put up a great performance," said Djokovic.<\/p>\n

"Honestly. I don't recall the last time I felt this miserable on returning games, to be honest, due to his incredibly accurate and powerful serve.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I mean, he's got one of the best serves in the world and it's so difficult to read it. Playing on the quickest surface in the sport \u2013 grass court \u2013 it really favours big servers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It was not really an enjoyable match for me, I must say," Djokovic chuckled.<\/p>\n

"I guess, in the important moments, yesterday, last night, I was fortunate really to win that first set.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I was 3-6 down in the tie-break. This match definitely could have gone a different way, but I guess I held my nerves when it mattered and I'm happy to win."<\/p>\n

Djokovic will face Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

The Russian comes into the decisive match off the back of a spectacular performance against Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik in which he pulled off an extraordinary shot<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"He's a different player to Hurkacz, for sure," said Djokovic of Rublev.<\/p>\n

"He's got very powerful, very quick ground strokes and stays very close to the line. Obviously one of the best forehands in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I'm not going to talk too much about tactics, sorry \u2013 probably try and keep it for myself. I have to be ready that the matches are only going to get harder."<\/p>\n

"It's tough to say it's going to get harder than what I experienced yesterday and today, but I have to be ready for that.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Rublev has been a top 10 player for many years and he's looking for his first semi-finals of a Grand Slam, hopefully that's not going to happen."<\/p>\n

Rublev will have to do the seemingly impossible and end a 10-year winning streak on Wimbledon's iconic centre court for Djokovic.<\/p>\n

"In a good way, I do feel a great connection with the court \u2013 no doubt about it," he said of centre court.<\/p>\n

"Every match that I win, every next time that I step on the court I feel more comfortable and I feel more confident to play the match. Hopefully the love affair keeps going for a long time."<\/p>\n

In the other quarter-finals, Italy's Jannik Sinner will face Roman Safiullin of Russia. His countryman Daniil Medvedev will go head-to-head with American Chris Eubanks.<\/p>\n

Arguably the most enthralling contest of all will be the battle of the 20-year-olds, featuring Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Denmark's Holger Rune.\u00a0<\/p>\n
