A controversial offside decision has handed the Dolphins<\/a> a golden point victory against the Titans<\/a>, as Jamayne Isaako slotted a penalty goal right in front.<\/p>\n

With the game at 21-21 in extra time, Isaako attempted a field goal from right in front but missed to the right.<\/p>\n

Referee \ufeffGrant Atkins then blew his whistle for offside with Isaako going on to hit the penalty goal and seal a 23-21 win.<\/p>\n

With Kieran Foran<\/a> fuming at the decision, Atkins explained he called Erin Clark back twice. Foran was arguing the Dolphins had been offside when the Titans attempted to previous field goals.<\/p>\n

Queensland great Paul Vautin \ufeffran out of words to describe the decision while observing Foran's rant.<\/p>\n

"It is a big, big call, it is a massive call, huge," he said on Nine's coverage. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Cameron Smith believed the offside call was "pedantic". \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I think it's Erin Clark, wow there's not much in it, he leaves the line as the ball's being rolled in the play ball," he said on Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

"And I tell you what, if you want to be pedantic, they allow that type of movement and that timing\ufeff (normally).<\/p>\n

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett praised the decision.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI loved his (Atkins) courage, that was the last thing I was expecting but he was right, he made the right decision, it's the right rule and I admire his courage," he said.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins scored first in the match when Connelly Lemuelu muscled his way over after 16 minutes.<\/p>\n

Veteran Kieran Foran then levelled it up when he set up Alofiana Khan-Pereira for a line break before the winger chipped ahead to put Foran over.<\/p>\n

Foran was involved again when he threw a beautiful cut-out pass for Phillip Sami to score as the Dolphins led 14-6 at half-time due to a penalty goal.<\/p>\n

The Dolphins were the better team in the second half, coming out strong with tries to Jarrod Wallace and Kenny Bromwich.<\/p>\n

Jamayne Isaako then scored in the 61st minute, however his poor goal-kicking kept the Titans in the hunt at \ufeff20-14.<\/p>\n

Brian Kelly then levelled it up moments later.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe field goal drama then started, with Isaako slotting his own in the 74th minute. Tanah Boyd kicked one for the Titans in the 78th minute, taking a deflection off the Dolphins. The Titans halfback had another crack at half-time from 40 metres out but missed.<\/p>\n

Both sides preferred to kick long on the fifth tackle in golden point, however Isaako had his opportunity right on half-time before controversy reigned as the Dolphins finished winners with a penalty goal.<\/p>\n

Next Sunday, the Dolphins will play the Panthers while the Titans face Parramatta. \ufeff<\/p>\n
