There's added impetus for Elina Svitolina<\/a> to beat Victoria Azarenka<\/a> when they face off in the fourth round at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n

The pair will go head-to-head on Monday morning in what is a Ukraine vs Belarus match-up.<\/p>\n

Belarus has been a key ally of Russia since it invaded Ukraine at the beginning of 2022.<\/p>\n

Russian and Belarusian athletes were subsequently banned from Wimbledon last year, meaning some of the sport's most famous names were omitted.<\/p>\n

However, this year the ban has been lifted, despite the war continuing and showing no sign of stopping.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's another match, in a way that a lot of Ukrainians will be watching, will be supporting me," said Svitolina.<\/p>\n

"I will go out there and put a fighting spirit on and just really fight for every single point."<\/p>\n

Former grand slam player, tennis coach, and Stan Sport commentator Mark Petchey said the forthcoming clash has added weight.<\/p>\n

"I think the one that's going to grab everyone's attention globally as well, not just because of the tennis, is Svitolina up against Azarenka \u2013 of course, Ukraine up against Belarus," he said on Stan Sport's Grand Slam Daily<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

"They've met a number of times in the past and Azarenka has won all of those five meetings but Svitolina is fighting for something more than just winning a tennis match. Maybe that's going to be the elixir for her to get her first win against Azarenka.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to go with Svitolina. I know it's flying directly in the face of the head-to-head and I shouldn't probably do it, I'm just going to go with Svitolina, I've just got a feeling."<\/p>\n

Azarenka acknowledged\u00a0what's to come when she faces Svitolina.<\/p>\n

"She's a very big fighter, so I know it's not going to be an easy match," said Azarenka.<\/p>\n

"I feel like there's two sides of a story when you know somebody, there's no surprises but they kind of know your game as well.<\/p>\n

"I know she's a very good mover. She has a great return and I have to maybe watch some of her matches. Maybe she learned some new tricks since coming back."<\/p>\n
