Steve Smith<\/a> was left seething after he gifted England his wicket before a brief exchange with wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Moeen Ali snagged the prized wicket after Smith advanced down the pitch and chipped it to Ben Duckett at midwicket.<\/p>\n

Smith dropped his head in frustration before things kicked off.\ufeff<\/p>\n

As the Australian batter wandered from the pitch, Bairstown said "See ya, Smudge!"\ufeff<\/p>\n

Smith whipped his head around and replied, "What was that mate? Hey!"<\/p>\n

Bairstow fired back, "I said cheers! See ya later!"<\/p>\n

It was the second soft dismissal of the innings after Marnus Labuschagne swept across the line and holed out at deep square leg.<\/p>\n

Bairstow has been the centre of Ashes controversy this year after he was stumped by Alex Carey in the second Test at Lord's.<\/p>\n

Smith made two and Labuschagne scored 33 before his dismissal in the deep.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Smith's two-run effort in the second innings came after he scored just 22 runs in the first innings.<\/p>\n

It marked a comedown from Lord's, where he scored a magnificent match-defining 110 in the first innings before making 34 in the second.<\/p>\n

Australia go into day three on 4-116 with Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh at the crease on 18 and 17 respectively.<\/p>\n
