Essendon<\/a> great Matthew Lloyd<\/a> believes out-of-favour Collingwood<\/a> forwards Jack Ginnivan<\/a> and Ash Johnson\ufeff may not make it back into the high-flying Magpies' side if their attitudes towards elite football do not improve.<\/p>\n

Ginnivan, who has been in and out of Collingwood's side for most of the 2023 season, has not made an immediate impact in the VFL, collecting only 12 disposals in their 95-point win over the Frankston Dolphins on Sunday.<\/p>\n

"I worry that Ash Johnson and Jack Ginnivan may look back at the end of the year and say 'I missed out on something very, very special at Collingwood'," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Both played in Collingwood's demolition of Frankston, but neither had a major impact, with Johnson the only one of the pair to score a goal.<\/p>\n

"Some people there were disappointed \ufeffin their performances…they didn't play overly well," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

It comes as Collingwood coach Craig McRae has hit back at the critics of Ginnivan's VFL stint, saying it's "natural" to have to earn your way as a youngster.<\/p>\n

But, the popular young gun's omissions have made headlines, with Collingwood fans reportedly lodging complaints to the AFL regarding Ginnivan's poor treatment by VFL opposition.<\/p>\n

"We love our fans, we love how passionate they are \u2026 but we want our players to embrace what comes," McCrae said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Magpies, who sit atop the AFL ladder with 13 wins\ufeff are playing premiership-like football, which Lloyd says takes more than just talent to execute, meaning Ginnivan and Johnson's attitude as a whole must improve.<\/p>\n

"It's not easy going from the MCG to Frankston, but it's about them and their attitudes\ufeff and can they be at their best to get back to play AFL footy," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

The Magpies will welcome back Jordan De Goey from his three-week suspension for their clash against the Western Bulldogs on Friday night at Marvel Stadium, but will miss Brayden Maynard due to knee and shoulder complaints.<\/p>\n
