New South Wales<\/a> coach Brad Fittler<\/a> has confirmed Tom Trbojevic<\/a> is back in hospital, with the injured Blues star suffering a complication in his recovery from a torn pectoral muscle.<\/p>\n

Trbojevic's Origin campaign was brutally cut short in the third minute of game two when the centre went down in a tackle on Reece Walsh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He subsequently left the field cradling his arm in discomfort in what was a huge blow for the Blues.<\/p>\n

A line was also drawn through the 2021 Dally M Medal winner's 2023 season with the Manly Sea Eagles after scans revealed the injury would require surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The injury-plagued superstar has suffered a range of soft tissue injuries throughout his career, including a hamstring injury during this year's pre-season, however was cleared for Origin duties.<\/p>\n

Fittler revealed on Tuesday morning that Trbojevic had undergone surgery to correct the torn pec but was forced to return to hospital after suffering a setback in his recovery.<\/p>\n

"Turbo is now back with an infection in the hospital," he said.<\/p>\n

Manly officials confirmed the 26-year-old had returned to hospital as a precautionary measure.<\/p>\n

In a post-game interview, Fittler acknowledged the huge impact Trbojevic's departure in Origin II had had on the NSW side, with Queensland retaining the State of Origin shield with its 32-6 win.<\/p>\n

"He is someone we look to get us points … we had to change a lot of what we were trying to do out there," he told Nine.<\/p>\n

"Obviously, he's a strike player and a good player. It had a huge impact on the game, but it is what it is.<\/p>\n

"He's had a decent amount of injuries over the past few years … He's got a torn pec, it's a good change but he won't play many more games this year."<\/p>\n

Newcastle Knights young gun Bradman Best will make his debut for the Blues in game three after being named as Trbojevic's replacement in the centres.<\/p>\n

The State of Origin<\/a> series finale will kick off at Accor Stadium on Wednesday, July 13.<\/p>\n
