Former Australian captain R\ufefficky Ponting<\/a> has clarified comments made during Nathan Lyon's innings after the off-spinner heroically batted with a painful calf injury.<\/p>\n

During commentary, Kevin Pietersen discussed the possibility of Nathan Lyon being hit in the head<\/a> during a bouncer barrage and the chance of Australia getting a concussion replacement.<\/p>\n

"Imagine if he (Lyon) had been hit on the head and got concussion," Pietersen<\/a> said.<\/p>\n

"He'd have got a like-for-like replacement and a world-class spinner (Todd Murphy), based on how he performed in India, it gives food for thought."<\/p>\n

Ponting spoke about the commentary during the first session of day five.<\/p>\n

"Kevin Pietersen was talking about the potential of Nathan Lyon getting hit in the head and what that would mean as far as the concussion substitute .. in no way at all \ufeffwere any of us saying that it'd be good to see Nathan Lyon get hit in the head and have a replacement," he said.<\/p>\n
