N\ufefforth Queensland Cowboys<\/a> have broken two club records and possibly more in a historic thumping at Townsville.<\/p>\n

After losing to the Wests Tigers<\/a> 66-18 in round 12, the Cowboys reversed the result with a 74-0 flogging.<\/p>\n

Among the records broken was the Cowboys' biggest ever total in a half, going into the break 42-0 on Saturday. The final score was also the club's highest ever winning margin.<\/p>\n

Coach Todd Payten<\/a> revealed the round 12 loss was the main motivation for an emphatic result.<\/p>\n

"I strategically put some posters around our facility with the scoreline from last time, I spoke about it earlier in the week but I think the posters said enough, it was there for everyone to see," he said in the post-match press conference.<\/p>\n

"Whether they were in the showers, recovery room, walking out on to the pitch, it was a constant reminder.<\/p>\n

"It hurt, that really hurt last time we played them. Tonight feels good but it still doesn't wipe away that poor performance."<\/p>\n

\ufeffCowboys five-eighth Tom Dearden was one of the side's best, and started the rampage in the 14th minute after the Tigers aimed up in defence for the opening stanza.<\/p>\n

From there, the flood gates opened. Sami Valemei, Luciano Leilua both scored next before Scott Drinkwater went in for a double. Murray Taulagi and Valentine Holmes helped break the first record at half-time.<\/p>\n

After the break, Valemei had his second as did Holmes. Taulagi went over for a hat-trick \ufeffbefore Jeremiah Nanai finally got in on the party.<\/p>\n

Jordan McLean put the icing on the cake in the final minute with his first try of the year off the back of a smart Reece Robson grubber. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The Cowboys will have the bye next week \ufeffwhile the Tigers play Cronulla on Thursday.<\/p>\n
