Executive chairman at Aston Martin<\/a> Lawrence Stroll believes he should be celebrated for the work he has done in financially supporting both the car manufacturer and the F1 team.<\/p>\n

The Aston Martin F1 team has leapt from seventh place in last year's constructors' championship to sit third heading into this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

Picking up 154 championship points in the first eight races, the team has just about tripled its winnings from 2022.<\/p>\n

In August 2018, Stroll led a consortium to buy the struggling Force India F1 team. A year later the team was commercially rebranded to Racing Point before becoming Aston Martin for the 2021 season.<\/p>\n

In return for saving the team from administration, Stroll secured a seat for his racing driver son, Lance<\/a>, at Racing Point.\ufeff<\/p>\n

As a part-owner of the carmaker and owner of the F1 team, \ufeffthe Canadian billionaire has contributed towards a new, state-of-the-art factory at Silverstone as well as a brand-new wind tunnel.<\/p>\n

As a result, Stroll claims he rescued thousands of jobs at the British car company, while heavily backing the F1 team's future.<\/p>\n

"I should be knighted for what I've done," he told Autocar at a press event.<\/p>\n

"I've saved thousands of jobs and built a new Formula 1 factory with hundreds of millions of investment.<\/p>\n

"The investment is staggering."<\/p>\n

By enticing others to invest in Aston Martin, and with Chinese car giant Geely – which owns Volvo – recently increasing their stake, AutoCar reports that Stroll has put over $2.8 billion AUD into the company.<\/p>\n

"It's a huge show of my belief in the company. One doesn't put that money into a business they don't believe in the future of," he said.<\/p>\n

"In my other businesses, I've won."<\/p>\n
