The Queensland Maroons have won the 2023 State of Origin series, clinching it at home in style with a 32-6 game two thrashing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nothing went the Blues' way, with Tom Trbojevic's match over less than three minutes in due to a torn pec<\/a> and the Maroons took control soon after.<\/p>\n

QUEENSLAND MAROONS<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n

\ufeff1. Reece Walsh:<\/strong> Made a wonderful break early in the second half and then created two tries to ensure Queensland couldn't lose. Late send-off was a brain snap.<\/p>\n

Rating: 8.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Xavier Coates:<\/strong> Scored yet another Origin try and very solid on the right wing.<\/p>\n

Rating: 6.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Valentine Holmes:<\/strong> Always the class finisher, was on the spot to bag two tries – the crucial first in each half at that.<\/p>\n

4. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow:<\/strong> Terrorised the Blues out wide, scoring a try and setting up another.<\/p>\n

5. Murray Taulagi:<\/strong> Had a fun time against the clueless Blues outside backs, defending strongly, posting a try and creating one for Tabuai-Fidow.<\/p>\n

6. Cameron Munster:<\/strong> Not as spectacular as he was in game one but still ran for 175 metres and kicked well.<\/p>\n

7. Daly Cherry-Evans:<\/strong> A superb captain's knock, creating tries, saving them will brilliant cover defence and making breaks backing up his forwards.<\/p>\n

\"DCE's\u00a0insane\u00a0chase\u00a0down\u00a0tackle\"<\/p>\n

15. Thomas Flegler:<\/strong> Never really made his presence felt, going for just five runs in limited game time.<\/p>\n

9. Ben Hunt:<\/strong> Didn't make a run in his 30 minutes on the field but defended strongly.<\/p>\n

Rating: 4.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

10. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui:<\/strong> Rattled the Blues with some big hits and carted the ball up strongly.<\/p>\n

Rating: 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

11. David Fifita:<\/strong> Was pretty well contained by the Blues defence, who restricted him to 81 metres from 10 runs.<\/p>\n

16. Reuben Cotter:<\/strong> Justified his inclusion in the starting side, running for over 120 metres and defending strongly.<\/p>\n

Rating: 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

13. Patrick Carrigan:<\/strong> Full of energy and enthusiasm, he played his part in the Maroons' forward dominance.<\/p>\n

Rating: 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

14. Harry Grant:<\/strong> Closely marked by the Blues defence, couldn't find open space but gave good service out of dummyhalf.<\/p>\n

8. Lindsay Collins:<\/strong> Did the job and then some for Billy Slater from the bench, coming up with some massive plays in attack and defence.<\/p>\n

12. Jeremiah Nanai:<\/strong> A constant threat when introduced from the bench with his wide running and was rewarded with a late try.<\/p>\n

17. Mo Fotuaika:<\/strong> Didn't get a lot of game time and made little impact off the bench.<\/p>\n

NSW BLUES\ufeff<\/strong><\/a><\/h2>\n

1. James Tedesco:<\/strong> Made his customary big yardage but failed to create anything in attack.<\/p>\n

Rating: 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

2. Brian To'o:<\/strong> Had few chances but still made plenty of mileage with his barnstorming runs.<\/p>\n

Rating: 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. Stephen Crichton:<\/strong> How DCE stopped him from scoring an intercept try is the game's big mystery. Had to score and didn't.<\/p>\n

Rating: 3.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

4. Tom Trbojevic:<\/strong> Lasted a mere couple of minutes before going down to injury yet again, leaving the Blues short of outside backs.<\/p>\n

\"Turbo<\/p>\n

5. Josh Addo-Carr:<\/strong> Given virtually no chances in attack and made some fumbles when put under pressure by Queensland's kicking game.<\/p>\n

Rating: 3.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

6. Jarome Luai:<\/strong> The most creative of the NSW backs, made several half breaks but couldn't turn them into points. Marred his game with his late send off.<\/p>\n

Rating: 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

7. Mitchell Moses:<\/strong> Thrown into the hot seat and did very little\u2026 perhaps Nicho Hynes was the way to go.<\/p>\n

Rating: 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

8. Junior Paulo:<\/strong> The big man was barely sighted as Queensland dominated the forward exchanges.<\/p>\n

Rating: 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

17. Reece Robson:<\/strong> Felt his way in his Origin debut without ever threatening the Maroons' line.<\/p>\n

Rating: 4.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

10. Payne Haas:<\/strong> The most dangerous Blues forward, making more yardage than any of his fellow big men.<\/p>\n

Rating: 6.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

11. Tyson Frizell:<\/strong> Barely noticed – made four runs in an Origin game for 42 metres. Not good enough.<\/p>\n

Rating: 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

12. Hudson Young:<\/strong> Didn't get involved enough in attack or make his presence felt in defence for a 'hit man'.<\/p>\n

Rating: 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Players<\/p>\n

13. Isaah Yeo:<\/strong> Tried hard as the link man but was too well marked by the Queensland defence.<\/p>\n

Rating: 5<\/strong><\/p>\n

14. Stefano Utoikamanu:<\/strong> I didn't think he was ready for such a big game and his performance confirmed that. Should never have been selected.<\/p>\n

Rating: 3.5<\/strong><\/p>\n

15. Cameron Murray:<\/strong> The game was all but over when he came on – tried hard but to little effect.<\/p>\n

16. Liam Martin:<\/strong> Couldn't reproduce his fine effort in game one off the bench but did plenty of work.<\/p>\n

9. Damien Cook:<\/strong> Struggled when thrown in at centre after Turbo's early injury, finding himself caught out of position several times, but then scored the Blues' only try.<\/p>\n
