A\ufeff backline squeeze at Canterbury<\/a> has forced out emerging talent Jake Averillo.<\/p>\n

Averillo will leave the Bulldogs and join the Dolphins<\/a> ahead of next season, a move confirmed by both clubs on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old has already played 69 NRL games in the blue and white and is considered one of the more promising young players at Belmore.<\/p>\n

He was the club's 2020 rookie of the year.\ufeff<\/p>\n

But he's the odd man out in a backline that will next year likely feature Paul Alomoti and superstar recruit Stephen Crichton in the centres.<\/p>\n

"He's a local junior who has done a wonderful job for the Club and we wish him and his family all the best for the future."<\/p>\n

Averillo joins a list of exciting recruits for the Dolphins next year, with the likes of Herbie Farmworth and Tom Flegler on their way to the NRL's newest club.<\/p>\n

"Jake is a really good acquisition for the Dolphins," Dolphins CEO Terry Reader said.<\/p>\n

"He will add speed and class to our backline stocks and at the age of 22 the best years of his career are right in front of him.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Averillo will see out the 2023 season with the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n
