Kevin Walters has hit back at mounting interest in star Broncos centre Kotoni Stags, publicly declaring that the 22-year-old is the "priority for us moving forward."<\/p>\n

Staggs was one of Brisbane's few shining lights in what quickly became the darkest season in the esteemed franchise's history, regularly playing beyond his years and refusing to let the off-field dramas around the club affect him on the park.<\/a><\/p>\n

He comes off contract at the end of the 2021 season but has an option in his favour to remain at Red Hill for 2022.<\/p>\n

According to the Courier Mail, Staggs' breakout year has attracted plenty of attention south of the border.<\/a><\/p>\n

Walters, however, isn't about to see one of his brightest talents lured away, and nipped speculation in the behind when fronting media.<\/p>\n

"He'll be a priority for us moving forward," Walters said.<\/p>\n

"He's been through our system and he's been here a couple of years now so we want to keep him long term.<\/p>\n

"We love what he brings and he's got the right attitude to me of what a real Bronco looks like. He's got a real desire to win and get better.<\/p>\n

"That's what I like about him. He's always competing and he's always wanting to win."<\/p>\n

When push comes to shove, the Broncos will undoubtedly have to fork out if they intend to turn Staggs into a club generation player.<\/p>\n

It comes as Walters welcomed back respected old boy Dale Copley back to Red Hill after recently parting ways with the Titans.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old returns to the Broncos after he was squeezed out of the club back in 2015 to accommodate former centre James Roberts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
