IndyCar's<\/a> Ice Man hasn't quite cooled off after a confrontation nearly two months ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After Pato O'Ward made a forceful pass on Scott Dixon at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, the six-time champion wound up buried in a tyre wall.<\/p>\n

Dixon, understandably, was none too happy having had his chances of a strong finish dashed.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring Will Power, Scott McLaughlin and Scott Dixon.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

He returned to the race but suffered an engine failure later on. It marked the first DNF for Dixon at the famed street circuit since 2012.<\/p>\n

The Kiwi blasted officials for not taking any action against the young Mexican driver<\/a>, suggesting it was "gloves off" thereafter.<\/p>\n

For the first time since that incident, Dixon found himself in a position to challenge O'Ward and exact his revenge at the most recent IndyCar race at Road America.<\/p>\n

However, the six-time champion withheld any retaliation. O'Ward went on to finish third just ahead of Dixon.<\/p>\n

Asked whether he was willing to take an elbows-out approach to taking the place, Dixon said it wasn't the right time \u2013 suggesting a response is yet to come.<\/p>\n

"That day will come, we'll see, but I think there's a time and a place for it," said Dixon.<\/p>\n

"We were trying to get close and he had more OT (overtake push-to-pass allocation) than us.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It is what it is. For the most part, we tried to race as cleanly as possible depending on when it comes down to."<\/p>\n

Outside his rogue DNF, Dixon has been ultra-consistent in 2023.<\/p>\n

From seven of the eight races to date, the series veteran has finished no lower than seventh.<\/p>\n

He has four top five finishes but a win is yet to be forthcoming.<\/p>\n

His drive to fourth at Road America came after a monumental crash in practice with Australia's Will Power that wrecked both cars<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Obviously just one spot away from a podium, which would have been nice," said Dixon, who started the race from 23rd.<\/p>\n

"It was definitely a day when you needed driveability to look after those (tyres) and also fuel mileage."<\/p>\n

While Dixon finished just shy of the podium, teammate Alex Palou scored his third win of the season to establish himself as the title favourite.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has more than a race win's worth of points over stablemate Marcus Ericsson \u2013 the pair on 324 and 250 points respectively.<\/p>\n

Ironically, Dixon is level with O'Ward in the standings in fourth with both drivers on 226 points.<\/p>\n

"Congrats to (Palou), he's having a hell of a championship right now and definitely got a great lead going on," said Dixon.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's time to get to work to see if we all can start closing that gap."<\/p>\n

The IndyCar Series returns on July 2-3 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, an event that Dixon has won six times previously making him the most successful active driver there.<\/p>\n
