Controversial forward Matt Lodge<\/a> looks poised to leave the Roosters<\/a> after the club granted his request to go immediately.<\/p>\n

The Sydney Morning Herald reports<\/a> Lodge's management submitted three requests to the eastern suburbs club in the last month, the first two of which were denied, but the third has now been granted.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe club is reportedly unhappy with the 28-year-old's attitude since being told he wouldn't be offered a new contract beyond this season.<\/p>\n

Lodge was dropped from the NRL team last week and has now played his last game for the Tricolours.<\/p>\n

The Chooks opted to re-sign veteran prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves instead of Lodge, and the latter was squeezed out by the arrival of Spencer Leniu next year.<\/p>\n

\ufeffLast week it was reported Lodge had met with Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo.<\/p>\n

Lodge\ufeff arrived at the Chooks mid-season last year after a bizarre exit from the Warriors, who paid out his lucrative $700,000 contract.<\/p>\n

His signing by the Roosters raised eyebrows, given the club's history of employing relative cleanskin players and the controversial past of the man in question.<\/p>\n

\ufeffLodge was arrested in New York in October 2015 after following two women into an apartment complex, then assaulting a man who came to their aid, and punching a hole in a wall where a young boy was hiding.<\/p>\n

He \ufeffwas initially charged with felony burglary causing injury, but later entered a guilty plea to a misdemeanour count of reckless assault.<\/p>\n

He avoided jail, but was later sued by the victims in civil court\ufeff. He returned to the NRL in 2018 with the Broncos, then went to the Warriors in 2021.<\/p>\n
