James Anderson\ufeff<\/p>\n<h3>WHAT IS THE ASHES HISTORY?\ufeff<\/h3>\n<p>While Australia and England first played Test cricket against one another in 1876, the Ashes was officially born after a match at The Oval in 1882 which the Aussies won, and an English newspaper jokingly declared cricket had &quot;died&quot; and its ashes would be taken Down Under.<\/p>\n<p>The first Ashes series was played later that year in 1882-83, when England toured Australia for a three-Test series.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6329329065112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/pickerimage-68.jpg\" alt=\"Test Legend goes into bat for Warner: Outside the Rope - The Ashes\" data-vms-id=\"ref:clitwrj5l00040jtdyf9oyoc3\" \/><\/p>\n<p>England won that series 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>In total there have been 340 Tests played between the two men&#x27;s teams.
