John Gotti III has been suspended for six months by the Florida State Athletic Commission for the post-fight fracas that marred the exhibition fight against Floyd Mayweather.<\/a><\/p>\n

The fight was called off in the sixth round<\/a> and both fighters were disqualified due to "trash talking and bad language".<\/p>\n

Gotti III, the grandson of former New York mob boss John Gotti, ignored the referee's decision to stop the bout and went after Mayweather, sparking an in-ring melee that took several minutes to contain.<\/p>\n

"The DBPR Florida Athletic Commission took immediate action the evening of Sunday (Monday AEST), June 11, and suspended John Gotti III for six months," a statement read.<\/p>\n

Mayweather was not sanctioned for the incident.<\/p>\n

The brawl in the ring sparked a verbal war online,\ufeff with Gotti's sister Nicolette posting threats to Mayweather and his family.<\/p>\n

In a since deleted post on an Instagram account that is now private, she wrote:\ufeff<\/p>\n

"You're all a pack of zoo animals. I swear on my kids I'm coming for your daughter. It may be two years, three years from now, but I'm coming c—."<\/p>\n

Nicolette, the granddaughter of John Gotti Sr, the former boss of New York City's Gambino crime family, did not state which of Mayweather's two daughters she was targeting.<\/p>\n

Gotti III also was active on social media in the aftermath of the fight\ufeff and had plenty to say.<\/p>\n

"Punk b—h @Floyd Mayweather. You my enemy for life," he posted.<\/p>\n

He then asked for\ufeff "back-up" from UFC legend Conor McGregor.<\/p>\n

"@TheNotoriousMMA we need back-up," he wrote.<\/p>\n

McGregor responded: "I back the Gottis. The war is on."\ufeff<\/p>\n
