Amanda Nunes<\/a> has beaten Irene Aldana by unanimous decision at UFC<\/a> 289 to hold on to her bantamweight title before announcing her retirement.<\/p>\n

Nunes dominated the fight, landing far more hits than her opponent, while Aldana\u2019s corner repeatedly encouraged their fighter to go on the offensive.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt went exactly how I pictured it in my mind. I did what I was supposed to do,\u201d Nunes said about her win.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I started to mix it up. … (Aldana) wasn\u2019t able to do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nunes entered the post-fight press conference on crutches, revealing she has suffered nerve damage in one leg for some time.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did everything, I broke a lot of records,\u201d she said about her reputation, adding she wants to be remembered as the greatest female fighter of all time.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old also had a message for those who will claim her belt as she firmly stated there'll be no comeback in the future.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to have my belts at \ufeffhome with me, that's going to be the fake one so it's going to be fake forever," she said. "Who gets the belt now is just going to pretend to have (it). I'm gone."<\/p>\n

Nunes said she\u2019d like to stay involved in mixed martial arts in the future and would like to train a female champion, but will first spend time with her wife and family in Brazil.<\/p>\n

Aldana suffered repeated blows to the face, with one elbow hit opening a cut on her face.<\/p>\n

UFC President Dana White<\/a> praised Nunes after her announcement, saying she was an icon of the sport.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s been incredible to work with. She\u2019s such a good human being \u2026 if she\u2019s ready to go you have to be happy for her,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

White added that Aldana had been taken to a hospital for evaluation after the fight.<\/p>\n

Charles Oliveira won by TKO in the co-main event against Beneil Dariush in the lightweight bout to set up a potential title fight against lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got the belt and I want to be a champion so I need to go through him. Of course I want to fight him,\u201d Oliveira said.<\/p>\n

The fight card was a sellout with a 17,628 attendance.<\/p>\n

White said Toronto would be a logical choice as the next potential location for a Canadian fight.<\/p>\n
