Geyer was particularly critical of how the Dragons had dealt with the Folau situation, slamming the club for only wrapping up the saga with a two-line statement that left their fans with endless questions.<\/p>\n

"To whoever is in charge at the Dragons, your fans need answers, your fans need a face to tell them what the hell is bloody going on," Geyer said on Triple M's Rush Hour with MG<\/em>.<\/p>\n "I mean come on, someone's got to be accountable for this trainwreck that we just saw in the last 48 hours.<\/p>\n "It took us all by surprise, got us all involved, made us all have an opinion and then a two-line statement to say you know what, we've stopped our chase of Israel.<\/p>\n "Come on man \u2026 And in the same breath, they've lost their inspirational skipper (McInnes) for four seasons.<\/p>\n "I know there's been a lot of narrative today about how poor it's been, but I'm speaking here on behalf of Dragons fans. They want answers, they need answers and they need them now."<\/p>\n The Dragons had approached the NRL about signing Folau, reportedly on a two-year deal worth $1 million.<\/p>\n But they ditched their pursuit of the Catalans Dragons centre on the back of savage feedback from fans, who had lashed the club for chasing a player with a history of making controversial remarks about homosexuality on social media.<\/p>\n All the club did to publicly close their pursuit of Folau was release the following statement:<\/p>\n "While the Dragons did enquire about signing Folau, the club can confirm that such discussions have now ceased," the statement reads.<\/p>\n "The Dragons will make no further comment."<\/p>\n While he didn't identify anyone, Geyer said the club had handled the Folau matter so poorly that someone should lose their job.<\/p>\n "I'd be calling for someone's head," Geyer said.<\/p>\n "As an ex-player I'd be embarrassed about the way my club has handled such a delicate situation.<\/p>\n "Israel Folau is a delicate situation, a very emotive situation. We all bought into the whole Israel saga in the last 48 hours and now it's just fizzled off.<\/p>\n "You're telling me that two-line summary is all they're going to give us \u2026 That's bulls**t. They've got to make more comments because (coach Anthony) Griffin needs them to.<\/p>\n "He looks like the one who's orchestrated all of this. He's probably had nothing to do with it.<\/p>\n "Someone needs to be made accountable and say, 'This is what happened, this is why we went after him, it wasn't a smokescreen'.<\/p>\n "Did you really want Israel in the first place or was it just a smokescreen for other things that are going on?"<\/p>\n McInnes' four-year deal with the Sharks is set to begin at the completion of the 2021 season.<\/p>\n Cronulla legend Paul Gallen was astonished at the Sharks' poaching of the fringe NSW Blues hooker, telling Wide World of Sports he "can't believe the Dragons have let him go"<\/a>.<\/p>\n Geyer's rant was a long one but he said the Dragons still had time to give their fans clarity on the rollercoaster week.<\/p>\n "One thing we know is that St George Illawarra fans need to know," Geyer said.<\/p>\n "The season hasn't started yet.
