Brett Holdsworth says he's fighting fit despite a freak cycling accident that left him in hospital in the lead-up to the third National Trans Am Series<\/a> round.<\/p>\n

The Ashley Seward Motorsport driver came off his road bike while training at night when a rogue shackle got stuck in his wheel.<\/p>\n

That sent him over his handlebars and onto his shoulder, tearing the ligaments around his AC joint.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 SpeedSeries.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Holdsworth will compete at Winton Motor Raceway on June 9-11 in what is the fourth SpeedSeries event of the season.<\/p>\n

"I had a bit of a freak accident, I managed to steer straight into a d-shackle on the road and basically locked up the front tyre," said Holdsworth.<\/p>\n

"It was pretty eye-opening at the time, I went straight to the emergency room, but I've been resting up and recovery has gone very well.<\/p>\n

"I'm basically back in fighting shape ready for Winton."<\/p>\n

The Chevrolet Camaro racer announced himself as a title challenger in the opening rounds of the National Trans Am Series, claiming a podium at Phillip Island.<\/p>\n

However, a rare DNF at the latest round has hit his campaign and sees him hanging on to 10th place in the drivers' standings.<\/p>\n

"We haven't had the start to the year we were after, despite showing some strong pace," said Holdsworth.<\/p>\n

"That podium at Phillip Island was awesome for the team but we want to be a regular feature in those positions.<\/p>\n

"It felt like we found the sweet spot in qualifying last round. If we can nail that again it will go a long way to a strong weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Winton is a very technical track and passing can often be pretty tricky to get done cleanly."<\/p>\n

Trans Am will adopt a new format at Winton with two, 25-minute sprint races followed by a longer, 40-minute, 100km feature race.<\/p>\n

Holdsworth, the brother of Supercars driver Lee, believes the longer race will play into his strengths.<\/p>\n

"We did the 100km race at Bathurst (in 2022) and it was our best round for the entire year," Holdsworth explained.<\/p>\n

"We should have finished second in that one behind Nathan Herne who was basically unbeatable but we got tagged from behind on the last lap.<\/p>\n

"There's no holding back for us at Winton. We've got to get out on the front foot and start racing our way back towards the top of the championship.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"We haven't been firing off as well as we'd like early on in the races, but we've been coming back pretty well towards the end so the extra distance in race three is going to help us out quite a lot."<\/p>\n

James Moffat, the son of four-time Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Moffat, leads the National Trans Am Series standings on 310 points.<\/p>\n

Moffat's Garry Rogers Motorsport teammate Lochie Dalton has been the quiet achiever, sitting second in the standings on 279 points while Dream Racing's Josh Webster sits third on 263 points.<\/p>\n

SpeedSeries coverage live and ad-free on Stan Sport from 11am on Saturday while 9Gem will carry free-to-air coverage from 2pm.<\/p>\n

Sunday's action will be live, ad-free, and exclusively on Stan Sport from 9.30am.<\/p>\n
