Collingwood<\/a> star Jordan De Goey<\/a>\ufeff has been grilled over a "weak act" which saw him floor Eagles teenager Elijah Hewett.<\/p>\n

De Goey is facing a significant ban\ufeff after collecting the 18-year-old high with a bump in the first quarter of Collingwood's 63-point win over West Coast<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes<\/a> was highly critical of De Goey's hit, saying it's the "latest edition" of the Magpies star "derail(ing) his season".<\/p>\n

"\ufeffJ\ufeffordan De Goey is consistent, he consistently derails his own seasons," he told Nine's AFL Sunday Footy Show.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI think that is a weak act from Jordan De Goey.<\/p>\n

\"Jordan<\/p>\n

"For a player that has as much talent as he has, I'm really fearful he's wasting his career. He's never been an All-Australian, he's never been top three in a best at fairest.<\/p>\n

"He's now 27 years of age and when things are going so well for him and his team, he finds a way to derail his season again.<\/p>\n

"He'll get four for that, which means he won't play for five weeks (due to the bye), and I'm fearful that he'll be one of the great wasted careers."<\/p>\n

De Goey did get some support from former Bulldogs and Tigers star Nathan Brown, who suggested that he can still make the All-Australian team despite the impending suspension.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe 27-year-old has enjoyed a terrific season on the back of a new contract, averaging a career-high 24.9 disposals and 5.9 clearances per game, but Cornes doubled down.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIf you compare him and players with the same amount of talent \ufeffat the same stage of their career, we're talking about (Marcus) Bontempelli and (Patrick) Dangerfield, these types of players, at that age, they're multiple All-Australians, they're champions of the game," he said.<\/p>\n

"With the talent that he's got it's a waste. It will derail his season if he doesn't play for five weeks, that's a big chunk of the season.<\/p>\n

"I see it as similar to Tom Stewart's (hit) on Dion Prestia. \ufeffIn the modern landscape now with as much education as we've had and the issues players gone through, the ball is gone there.<\/p>\n

"He jumps, leaves the ground, and hits an 18-year-old in the head. Did he have a play on the player to be able to tackle him?<\/p>\n

"In that moment, why is he jumping off his feet and getting high, in a game that doesn't mean that much? I think it's really poor."<\/p>\n
