The Tokyo Olympics have been hit much controversy over the past year and it appears that won't be stopping any time soon.<\/p>\n
The president of the organizing committee, Yoshiro Mori, reportedly made some questionable comments when asked about adding more women to the committee during a meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
"If we increase the number of female board members, we have to make sure their speaking time is restricted somewhat, they have difficulty finishing, which is annoying," Mori said, according to a report in Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese newspaper.<\/p>\n
"We have about seven women at the organizing committee but everyone understands their place."<\/p>\n

Unfortunately Mori was wrong about that one – there are actually only five women on the 25-person committee. In 2019, the committee said it wanted it to be 40 percent female.<\/p>\n
According to the report the comments were met with some laughter.<\/p>\n
The 83-year-old former Prime Minister copped some heat earlier in the week when he said the Olympics will go ahead this summer no matter how dire the situation is.<\/p>\n
In a meeting with Japan's Sports Research Commission, Mori said "we will hold the Olympics, regardless of how the coronavirus [situation] looks".<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
