Q\ufeffueensland Rugby League<\/a> has copped a breach notice proposing a fine of $30,000 after the Maroons briefly had 14 men on the field during their victory in the State of Origin opener<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the 19th minute of the Adelaide Oval clash, won by Queensland 26-18<\/a>, an interchange bungle occurred when Lindsay Collins entered the field before the departure of Tom Gilbert, who had suffered a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n

The Maroons had 14 players on the paddock for about 30 seconds, which led to referee Ashley Klein awarding\ufeff New Sou\ufeffth Wales a penalty.<\/p>\n

Queensland Rugby League\ufeff has five business days to respond to the breach notice issued by the NRL.<\/p>\n

Mulling over the interchange blunder involving Gilbert and Collins, Queensland legend Cameron Smith suggested the latter was overcome by excitement.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeff"He hadn't left the field and Collins was out there. He looked to leave the field on the opposite side and there was obviously confusion for the Queensland trainer," Smith said on the Nine broadcast.<\/p>\n

"Lindsay Collins got on the field and ran the ball. Too eager."<\/p>\n

Queensland won the game despite the injury sustained by Gilbert, which left the Maroons with one less man at their disposal for 61 minutes.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Maroons will retain the Origin shield if they beat the Blues at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on June 21.\ufeff<\/p>\n
