The NSW Waratahs<\/a> will have to wait another year to end an enormous 19-year winless streak against the Crusaders<\/a> in Christchurch.<\/p>\n

The Sydneysiders were implored to bring a full-strength squad across the Tasman to maintain their momentum heading into the Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> finals and give themselves a chance to end the streak.<\/p>\n

Even then, the Crusaders were too strong, more than doubling the Waratahs' points to romp home to a 42-18 win.<\/p>\n

The last time the Waratahs won in Christchurch was 7035 days ago in 2004 when they triumphed 43-19 at Jade Stadium (nee Lancaster Park).<\/p>\n

Of particular concern for the Waratahs was the loss of Wallabies prodigy Max Jorgensen, who left the field just 10 minutes into the match with a suspected knee injury.<\/p>\n

Captain Jake Gordon lamented the Crusaders keeping his side out of the contest, leaving the Waratahs the walking wounded.<\/p>\n

"I was just hearing then, a few of our boys are a bit sore," he said.<\/p>\n

"It's important that we freshen up coming into finals now, bit to review, but fingers crossed they're OK."<\/p>\n

The already depleted Crusaders lost Cullen Grace to a knee injury and David Havili was another to walk off late in the piece after scoring the first try of the match in the ninth minute.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Waratahs opened the scoring with a penalty in the seventh minute but the Crusaders dominated thereafter.<\/p>\n

Cody Taylor scored in the 21st minute to extend the lead to 14-8 before Richie Mo'unga gifted Mitch Drummond the ball in the in-goal just before the half-hour mark to extend that lead.<\/p>\n

A storming run opened the door for Fergus Burke to score in the 37th minute, taking the Crusaders into half-time with a 28-8 lead.<\/p>\n

Dylan Pietsch offered the first response in the 55th minute but it was all one-way traffic from there.<\/p>\n

Mo'Unga scored his first in the 58th minute before Nephi Leatigaga offered the Waratahs some consolation with a try in the 74th minute, which stole the Crusaders' bonus point away.<\/p>\n

However, Sione Havili-Talitui went over in the 77th and that sealed the bonus point win.<\/p>\n

The Crusaders sit second on the ladder with 47 points after their bonus-point win behind the Chiefs, who still control proceedings with 50 points to their credit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Waratahs maintain their place in sixth and cannot drop any lower with one round remaining.<\/p>\n

The Waratahs will host the Fijian Drua in Sydney while the Crusaders head to Wellington to take on the Hurricanes.\ufeff<\/p>\n
