F\ufefformer world No.1 and two-time grand slam champion Simona Halep<\/a> is "devastated" a hearing into her positive doping result is taking so long to eventuate.<\/p>\n

Halep, 31, has not played professionally since last year's US Open, \ufeffwhere a testing sample was later found to contain the banned substance Roxadustat<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last week the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) charged her with a second offence, alleging irregularities in her athlete biological passport\ufeff.<\/p>\n

The Romanian star remains provisionally suspended but has maintained her innocence, and is frustrated at how long it's taking for a hearing date to be set.<\/p>\n

"Once again tonight I am devastated," she wrote on Twitter on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"The ITIA has once again, for the third time, postponed my hearing one month later.<\/p>\n

"I am waiting to be judged since last October. In December\ufeff, I have finally been able – thanks to experts – to show that the lot of the supplement I was using had been contaminated, which caused the positive.<\/p>\n

"I have asked, as the rules of the anti-doping state it, for a quick hearing. This is my right, it is written in the rules.<\/p>\n

"Unfortunately the ITIA has postponed my hearing three times.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Now I know that I will have missed the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon. Not to mention that I will have lost all my points and my ranking.<\/p>\n

"Not only are they killing my reputation, but also me as a professional player, and I don't even talk about the consequences on my mental health.<\/p>\n

"This disrespect of the rules by the ITIA regarding the fast hearing I am entitled to have, is so disrespectful\ufeff to me that I have no more words.<\/p>\n

"Justice delayed is justice denied."<\/p>\n

Halep's coach Patrick Mouratoglou accused the ITIA of "an incredible campaign of harassment" of the player.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeffIn an earlier Twitter post Halep said she was "extremely shocked and disappointed" and accused the ITIA of acting "contrary to my rights".<\/p>\n

The ITIA responded with a statement.<\/p>\n

"We have proposed that both charges are heard together to avoid multiple hearings," it said.<\/p>\n

"To do this, we wish to provide all parties (including the independent tribunal) sufficient time to consider the significant materials associated with the latest charge.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

The second grand slam of 2023 begins on Sunday at Roland-Garros.<\/p>\n
