moniker and will continue to do so until their supply deal ends at the end of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"afe914a6-6162-4cdf-ae3d-3fb4d85d646c\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/afe914a6-6162-4cdf-ae3d-3fb4d85d646c\" alt=\"Red Bull was powered by Honda from 2019, but left the sport at the end of 2021.\" data-width=\"5886\" data-height=\"3311\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Until now, Honda&#x27;s long-term future in F1 \ufeffhad been unclear <a href=\"https:\/\/wwos.nine.com.au\/motorsport\/ford-returns-to-formula-one-in-partnership-with-red-bull\/b40740ea-6d15-41c3-9630-d3c7c61475a1\" title=\"after Red Bull pledged itself to Ford for its own powertrains\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">after Red Bull pledged itself to Ford for its own powertrains<\/a> after its current deal expires.<\/p>\n<p>However, with Aston Martin&#x27;s impressive start to this season, combined with its own deal with Mercedes finishing up at the end of 2025, the Silverstone-based team was a solid option.<\/p>\n<p>Ironically, it could see two bitter rivals reunite.<\/p>\n<p>Should Aston Martin re-sign Fernando Alonso, it would mark the first time since 2017 that the Spaniard and Honda have worked together.<\/p>\n<p>After Honda returned to F1 for the first time since the late 2000s with McLaren, Alonso had a strained relationship with the manufacturer from 2015 to 2017 in which he went winless.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"1b40b0f1-2a4f-4f89-b74d-c94d744da59d\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/1b40b0f1-2a4f-4f89-b74d-c94d744da59d-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Third placed Fernando Alonso of Spain and Aston Martin celebrates on the podium during the Miami Grand Prix.\" data-width=\"4335\" data-height=\"2890\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Alonso was very public in his disdain, and although a reunion hasn&#x27;t been formalised, Honda says it has moved on in any case.<\/p>\n<p>Honda went on to win the F1 title with Red Bull after parting company with McLaren, something the company recognised during Wednesday&#x27;s announcement.<\/p>\n<p>Current Honda CEO Toshiro Mibe said &quot;the past is the past&quot; and that he would &quot;leave it to the team&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Such was the \ufeffrocky relationship that Honda refused to supply Alonso upon returning to the Indianapolis 500 in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We have been accelerating our development during our recent time in Formula 1 while working with Alonso, and that enabled us to win the world championship,&quot;
