Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett<\/a> has called for Felise Kaufusi<\/a> to be available for State of Origin selection after Jarome Luai escaped suspension for touching an official.<\/p>\n

Kaufusi faces a nervous wait for a swinging arm<\/a> and could be ruled out of the Origin series opener after he was sent to the sin bin for a tackle on former teammate Christian Welch.<\/p>\n

Luai was handed a $1,800 fine after he was charged for contrary conduct for making contact with the touch judge during the Panthers' win over the Broncos. Luai apologised on the field after realising his error.<\/p>\n

Judgements relating to such incidents in the past have resulted in players being banned.<\/p>\n

Bennett was asked in the post-match press conference whether Kaufusi should miss out on Queensland selection.<\/p>\n

"Wasn't there a guy the other night who was an Origin player (who) touched a match official?" Bennett asked.<\/p>\n

\"Bromwich<\/p>\n

"Was there a guy, was that someone, was he an Origin player? He will be playing Origin next week, he got a fine didn't he?<\/p>\n

"Yeah\u2026 well if you look (at that) I think you've got a real good chance of getting a fine or not guilty.<\/p>\n

"I would say for that (a fine is sufficient), even if he is charged."<\/p>\n

Bennett questioned the inconsistencies surrounding the referee's use of the sin bin.<\/p>\n

\"NRL<\/p>\n

"I didn't take a great deal of interest in it because I didn't put it in the malicious, vicious category or whatever you want to put it into," Bennett said.<\/p>\n

"Some go to the sin bin some don't go, you can't pick who is going to the sin bin and who isn't.<\/p>\n

"Don't do the offence, you don't have to worry about all this stuff okay. After that who knows what is going to happen to you."<\/p>\n

Kaufusi as already spent time sidelined this year, copping a four week ban for a late shot on Knights' half Jackson Hastings.<\/p>\n

The charge was Kaufusi's third and subsequent offence.<\/p>\n
