Former Blues<\/a> coach Phil Gould<\/a> believes Dylan Edwards<\/a>' ticket to a Blues State of Origin jersey could be a shock position switch.<\/p>\n

With Josh Addo-Carr<\/a> in doubt and Daniel Tupou<\/a> still battling a hamstring injury, it's becoming increasingly likely Brad Fittler<\/a> will have to pick a player out of position.<\/p>\n

Edwards joined the Panthers pathways program at five-eighth, and had brief stints on the wing and in the centres before settling into his fullback role.<\/p>\n

He made his NRL<\/a> debut in 2016 on the wing, and played there again in his second appearance in early 2017.<\/p>\n

After another few weeks in reserve grade, Edwards was thrown the No.1, and hasn't looked back.<\/p>\n

But Gould told Wide World of Sports' Six Tackles with Gus<\/em> podcast that experience could make Edwards the man, confirming he could play on a wing if Fittler asked him to.<\/p>\n

"He's a player that just worked so hard, and he would not be out of place in the Origin team," he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Queensland great Darren Lockyer said Edwards should be the Blues fullback if the side was picked on form, but said James Tedesco was still a more formidable opponent.<\/p>\n

"If you go on club form, the Roosters are going ordinary but I just know how good Tedesco is and how competitive he is," Lockyer told QLDER<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"In a beaten team last year, he was still by far their best player. He's the guy, when the game is tight I worry the most about.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Tedesco just for some treason, he's so competitive that when the game is tight, he finds a way to get himself in the game."<\/p>\n

The Blues and Maroons will both name their game one squads on Monday.<\/p>\n
