Difficult as it might be to acknowledge, Brooks Koepka<\/a> is not too proud in admitting to \u201cchoking\u201d at The Masters<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n

Koepka first used the word during a Barstool Sports podcast, in which he said his motivation was to beat the hosts to the punch by saying he choked first before they had a chance.<\/p>\n

The two-time PGA<\/a> Championship (2018, \u201919) and US Open (2017, \u201918) winner had a four-shot lead as the weather-delayed third-round resumed, and was up by two in opening the fourth round. <\/p>\n

Koepka then proceeded to shoot a 3-over 75 in losing to Jon Rahm, and finishing tied for second with LIV Golf compatriot Phil Mickelson.<\/p>\n

As for whether he believes the word \u201cchoke\u201d applies, Koepka didn\u2019t waver when asked by reporters.<\/p>\n

\"Brooks<\/p>\n

\u201cTheoretically, yes, it is. It is choking, right?," he said.<\/p>\n

"If you have a lead and cough it up, that\u2019s choking."<\/p>\n

The time for reflection is long over, he added, by noting three of his major wins have come when leading through 54 holes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not dwelling on it,\u201d Koepka said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t do it every single time. I\u2019m not perfect. As long as I can learn from it, I\u2019ll be better off from it."<\/p>\n

The PGA Championship begins on Thursday night (AEST) with a number of Aussies in the mix, including last-start winner Jason Day<\/a>.\ufeff<\/p>\n
